Remark: This article describes the many different Artefacts found in Tomb Raider Games in general. For information about the type of secrets in Tomb Raider Anniversary, see Artifacts (Tomb Raider Anniversary), for a type of secrets in Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, see Artifacts (GoL).An Artefact (also Artifact in American English) is an archaeological item of certain value or power.
Lara's main focus in the games, movies or comics is often on an artefact that, when in the wrong hands, could be misused and cause a disaster. Some artefacts only play a minor role and are simply used to open doors or activate mechanisms. Some artefacts have to be re-assembled before their power can be revealed. In some of the games Lara has to use the Crowbar to get an artefact out of a receptacle.
