The Mural is an Puzzle object in Rise of the Tomb Raider and Shadow of the Tomb Raider.
Rise of the Tomb Raider
Murals can be found all over Syria and Siberia. In the main game there are two different kinds of murals: Wall Paintings (or mosaics) and Plaques. The wall paintings are mostly hidden in niches and cover a complete wall. Plaques on the other hand are round with a bow pattern around them (Greek) or in the form of a Soviet star (Russian).
There are also two Suits of Armour categorised as murals in the Blood Ties DLC of the Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration version. These do not increase Lara's Language Proficiency as the murals in the main game do.
As part of the Translation System Lara can decipher monoliths by learning the necessary languages (Greek, Mongolian, Russian), which Lara can do by studying murals or finding Documents written in these languages or examining Relics.
Murals in the Game
- Main article: List of Documents in Rise of the Tomb Raider
Within the main game there are 31 Murals to be found. An additional 2 Murals can be found in the Blood Ties DLC of the Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration edition.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider
In Shadow of the Tomb Raider Murals make a return. They appear in the form of Maya ornaments on buildings and ruins, or on special stele.
