Rope Tethering is a feature found in the reboot games Tomb Raider (2013), Rise of the Tomb Raider and Shadow of the Tomb Raider that allows Lara to tether objects together using the Rope Arrows of the Bow.
It is usually used to create Rope Slide, but also to connect mechanisms to solve puzzles.
PRESS LT to toggle Aiming, and TAP RT to loose a Rope Arrow at the Winch.

Rise of the Tomb Raider
- One puzzle which uses rope tethering is found inside the level Shortcut, in the Abandoned Mines, where Lara has to break through a giant door. There is one place where she has to tether a cart with rubble to a winch mechanism operated with the axe, to pull the cart up a slope before cutting the rope with the Combat Knife to send it crashing down into a truck.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider
- One of the first instances where rope tethering is found is inside the level Hunter's Moon, where Lara has to attach a wooden mine cart to a winch mechanism to pull it up, before sending it crashing down into a barricade.
