Vases have a significance in many of the Tomb Raider Games. Most of the times Lara can destroy them to find hidden items within. But there are also cases where they can be collected and used as keys to trigger an event.
Two artefact vases that are used as keys are found in Tomb Raider IV: The Last Revelation:
- These vases are found in the Karnak Section of the game. The first is located in the Temple of Karnak level. It is then used to open the passage to the Sacred Lake, where the second vase is located.
Three types of vases are secret related:
- The Kero Mug is a ceremonial vase found as Relic in Tomb Raider Anniversary.
- These are breakable vases in Tomb Raider Underworld that contain Treasures.
- A type of Relics in TOMB RAIDER, which includes three Vases
Other types of breakable vases can simply be destroyed to find items hidden inside.
- These vases can also trigger events. Such cases are rather found in Custom Levels. Since Lara was unable to perform kicks in the Classic Tomb Raiders, she has to rely on shooting those vases. When they are on the same level as Lara, she can simply shoot them using her regular pistols, everything else would be a waste of ammunition. But sometimes, when vases are on high up ledges for example, it is necessary to use the Crossbow or Revolver in combination with the Lasersight.
