Oil Cask

The Oil Cask is an object found in Rise of the Tomb Raider. It is a smaller version of the fuel barrel.

The Oil Cask is a small wooden container painted red with metal applications, which can be detonated by shooting it with anything, even an arrow. Lara can also pick up oil casks and throw them wherever they are needed. They do sink when thrown into the water. They are made to automatically respawn when lost or wasted, preventing the player from getting stuck. Also there is always a supply of arrows nearby, in case the player finds them when out of ammo.

Unlike the Molotov Cocktail, which can also be used to bring down barriers, the oil cask does not require flammable objects, like cloth to be present, the oil cask can break open sturdy doors.

Occurrence

The Oil Cask is first discovered inside the Challenge Tomb, Ancient Cistern, where it is used to open up wooden portals.
