The Lion's Heads are triggers first appearing in Tomb Raider IV: The Last Revelation and returning in The Times Exclusive.
In The Last Revelation these triggers are found in the level The Mastabas. The lion heads have a red gem in their mouth. Using the Revolver or Crossbow, combined with the Lasersight, you have to shoot these crystals in order to open doors. In some rare cases, where the lion heads are placed lower on the wall you can shoot them using the pistols by jumping up and down in front of them.
In The Times Exclusive the lion heads don't have a crystal in their mouth, but can be destroyed themselves by shooting at them. They also serve as trigger.
