Karel is a character from Angel of Darkness.
At the end of the game Lara finds out that he is a changeling, which explains the scene outside the Louvre where Kurtis was knocked out and the man who did it knocked out Lara as well and then changed from a normal guard to Bouchard's Bodyguard.
He is probably a Nephilim.
