Horizontal Pole

The Horizontal Pole also Swing Pole or Horizontal Bar, is an obstacle found in Tomb Raider Chronicles, Tomb Raider Legend, Tomb Raider Anniversary and Tomb Raider Underworld. Lara can swing around such a pole and if it's long enough even move along its length. She can also jump from one pole to the next.

Since Tomb Raider Legend there are two types of horizontal poles, those that are firmly attached and those that can be moved. The latter swing around when Lara jumps towards them. After Lara lets go, they might stay in place, or swing back.

In Underworld, Lara is able to climb up onto poles to walk across them. Some can even be pulled from the wall to be used as weapon or inserted into another hole in the walls.
