The Explosive Barrels (also Exploding Barrels, Fuel Barrels, Fuel Tanks or Propane Tanks) are a special kind of obstacle in the Tomb Raider Games. They pose no threat in their normal state, however if hit by gunfire, they can turn into a deadly trap for anything standing nearby. They can destroy weak structures and they can kill Lara or most kinds of enemies.

In Tomb Raider Legend these barrels occur during the Peru level. They can also be found during the motorbike chase.
Tomb Raider (2013) - A Survivor is Born
In Tomb Raider (2013) these barrels occur throughout the game. They can often be used to dispose of enemies quickly or to destroy structures.

In Rise of the Tomb Raider these barrels will mainly serve as a means to kill enemies standing nearby these objects. For bringing down Barriers there is often a smaller version, the Oil Cask, to be found.
Lara Croft: Relic Run
In Lara Croft: Relic Run these barrels occur in the shooting scenes. They can be used to kill enemies quicker. Shoot them to make them explode.

The PlayStation 3 version of Tomb Raider Legend offers three trophies related to fuel or propane tanks.
- Out With A Bang (Bronze Trophy)
- Kill an enemy by detonating a fuel tank
- A Bigger Bang (Bronze Trophy)
- Kill 2 enemies by detonating a fuel tank
- Biggest Bang for the Buck (Bronze Trophy)
- Blow up 2 mercenaries with 1 propane tank while riding the motorcycle
Lara Croft: Relic Run
In Lara Croft: Relic Run you can find one achievement related to exploding barrels.
- Shoot 250 exploding barrels.
