Serafima is a character from the Baba Yaga: The Temple of the Witch DLC of Rise of the Tomb Raider. It turns out she is the eponymous witch, Baba Yaga. Together with Ivan she had a daughter, who in turn had a daughter called Nadia.
Story
Serafima was deported to the Gulag "Freedom Station"[1] in the 1970's, because she threw drink into the face of a Minister. There she had to endure much hardship until she met Ivan, a guard that was appalled by treatment of the prisoners and the Remnant. Together they did little things to sabotage the day-to-day workings of the Gulag. They fell in love and had a child together, but she was separated from both Ivan and her daughter and taken into the vale because of her botanical knowledge.
Here her captors were slowly driven mad just as the engineers of the forefathers that build the ruins in the vale. She alone found an Antidote to the Dreaming Blossoms[2] flowers and survived, while the others slowly killed each other.
Thinking that both Ivan and her daughter were killed in the Remnant uprising she stayed in the vale and assumed the identity of folk myth Baba Yaga. She put up scarecrows and even put huge bird legs on the old construction lift so that anyone who entered the vale and was exposed to the hallucinogenic pollen would believe there really was a witch living here.
Many lonely years passed until finally Ivan, who thought that Baba Yaga had killed Serafima, decided to take revenge. He entered the forest, closely followed by a group of Trinity soldiers (Bravo Team), Nadia, and Lara.
In the end she recognizes Ivan and together they leave the valley.
