The Cog Switch is a trigger in Tomb Raider IV: The Last Revelation. Since it operates like a winch it is used in combination with Timed Doors.

Strategy

With each turn of the cog the door is pulled up a bit more. As soon as Lara releases the controls the door will start closing again.

Generally you have to turn it at least three times.

Occurrence

This trigger appears several times throughout the game and was also used in several Custom Levels.

  • Angkor Wat
The first time this trigger is seen is in Angkor Wat, where Young Lara uses it in a cutscene at the end.
  • Guardian of Semerkhet
The Cog Switch returns in the level Guardian of Semerkhet
  • Chambers of Tulun
In the Chambers of Tulun Lara has to operate this trigger guarded by a Taur Demigod.
