Camilla Luddington doing motion capture work on the 2013 reboot of Tomb Raider

Motion Capture is the term used for a process of using real life actors to give video game or animated movie characters a more life-like appearance. Motion capture is usually done on a special stage equipped with multiple cameras "capturing" the scene from different angles. The actors have to wear special suits which are marked in certain places; these marks are captured by the cameras, analysed by a computer, and then transferred onto the three-dimensional model of the in game character. Additionally the actors sometimes wear special helmets with cameras pointing at their faces to capture their facial expression giving the characters an even more realistic appearance.

For the reboot games (Tomb Raider (2013), Rise of the Tomb Raider) motion capture for Lara Croft was done by Camilla Luddington.
