You will meet Tigers in Tomb Raider II at the Great Wall in China and in Tomb Raider III in the India Section.
Tigers are only dangerous when they can reach you. Most of the time you will be able to find a rock nearby on which you can stand. There you will be safe and can use pistols. When you cannot find a place where you are safe from the tiger, use the shotgun to get rid of it quickly.
