The Damned Leader

Lara meets the Leader at the beginning of Lud's Gate. He leads a group called The Damned. The man explains that he endured Sophia Leigh's experiments, but he ended up with no face:

"Came down here looking for work, and what do I get, eh? Miss Leigh’s cosmetics company and her lab assistant job. No experience necessary, good wage, accommodation with it. Aye, locked in a flotation tank for days on end in some fetid syrup. And when we come out, cause lots of it was applied, like – no face, or flesh, mon! And a booting down the waste disposal chute here. Presumed dead!"

The experiment also made the leader immortal, as he discovered when he tried to take his own life. He accepts to help Lara in exchange for the embalming fluid found inside the Natural History Museum.
