The Horizontal Pole is an obstacle found in Tomb Raider Chronicles, Tomb Raider Legend, Tomb Raider Anniversary and Tomb Raider Underworld. Lara can swing around such a pole and if it's long enough even move along its length. She can also jump from one pole to the next.
In Underworld, Lara is able to climb up onto poles, remove and pull take them from walls to use as weapons.
