The loose boards are traps found throughout the Tomb Raider series. They consist of one or more floor boards that begin to shake as soon as Lara steps on them. A few seconds later they will collapse, sending Lara into either a deep pit, spikes and sometimes into a new area in which case they do not act as traps.
