Tomb Raider Classic
In the classic games (Tomb Raider II to Tomb Raider Chronicles) ladders were mainly simple textures and there is basically no difference between ladders and Climbable Walls. To climb up a ladder from below, stand in front, press the Action Button (you may also jump up first] and hold it to grab the ladder. Then press up.
