The Chirugai is Kurtis' mysterious weapon. It is an inheritance from the Lux Veritatis. When Lara returns to the Arena where Kurtis fought Boaz. She finds it on the ground, but no sign of Kurtis. When she picks it up and holds it in the air, it starts vibrating, which probably means it is pointing to Kurtis, who probably still alive since his hit from Boaz.
Miscellaneous facts
- There are contradictory reports about what or who "ferilium" is, with respect to the Chirugai. One theory says that the Chirugai is made of "ferilium" [1], a substance whose name possibly contains the root "ferr-", implying that the weapon is made of a substance containing iron. Another theory says that the Chirugai was made by the Ferilium [2], who are no doubt some lost race majoring in metalwork. In real life there is a specialised type of stainless steel called "ferilium" [3], but there is no evidence that it can be used to make flying, telepathically controlled objects.
- The Chirugai is sometimes referred to as a "glaive". [4]. A glaive is generally defined as a weapon consisting of a single-edged blade on the end of a pole. [5] It is not known whether the Chirugai once had a pole, or if Kurtis has a large pole hidden about his person which he secretly uses to control the Chirugai.
