== Background Story ==
Richard Croft has been the head of a "global empire" and part-time archaeologist before his disappearance. His last known destination was a fabled tomb on a mythical island off the coast of Japan, but he never returned from this expedition.

== Copmarison to Reboot Game Lord Croft ==
There are not many details known of [[Richard Croft (Reboot)|Richard Croft]] in the original [[Tomb Raider (2013)|Tomb Raider reboot game]], which is what the movie is supposedly based upon. He was good friends with [[Conrad Roth]], the captain of the [[Endurance]], but that character is missing from the movie. In the game he was not only a part-time archaeologist, but a full-time researcher, disgraced maybe, but still working, while in the movie he is the head of a global business, that so far no further details are known about, and it seems that archaeology was more of a hobby to him.

There is more information on Richard Croft in the sequel, [[Rise of the Tomb Raider]], and it seems that the movie character as well as his relation to his daughter is more based on these, but just how much remains to be seen.
