The '''Scavenger's Den''' is the first location of [[Tomb Raider (2013)]]. It ends when Lara enters the [[Coastal Bluffs]] location.

The player visits this location during the [[Force of Will|Force of will/Survive]] level.

==Story==
After surviving the shipwreck of the [[Endurance]] in the [[Dragon's Triangle]] [[Lara]] and her [[Survivors|shipmates]] are stranded on the island [[Yamatai]]. Lara is taken captive by a [[Scavengers|scavenger]] who takes her to his den and hangs her upside down from the caves ceiling. To escape, Lara has to swing left and right to set her cocoon on fire. She is severely injured when she hits a metal rod sticking out of the ground. 

Inside the scavenger's den Lara finds several previous victims of the scavenger, who seem to have been murdered during some strange rituals. Her friend [[Steph]] for example, a member of the [[Endurance]] expedition, has been strung up in a ritualistic position and killed. (See image.)

In the end Lara can escape the den. On her flight she encounters one scavenger, who pretends to be friendly. If she believes him however, he will kill her. Inside the den there are several other obstacles besides the scavenger that Lara has to overcome: She has to crawl tight spaces, solve a fire puzzle, and finally has to escape while the den comes crashing down around her.


==Gameplay==
The main purpose of the Scavenger Den is to introduce the player to the new game. There are several instances where the player learns about the game mechanics and objects like the [[torch]].
