Sophia Leigh is a character from Tomb Raider III.

In the first level of the London section, Thames Wharf, Lara is attacked by a man who tells her that he is working for Sophia Leigh, like his father and grandfather before him. Confused, Lara asks him how old Sophia is and he replies that she's about 30 years old.

At the end of the second level, Lara meets a faceless man who was one of Sophia's failed experiments. He tells her Sophia is testing for everlasting beauty and keeps the best results for herself.

Lara then meets Sophia before the Level City. Sophia asks Lara would she like to join her company. Lara says all she wants is the artefact. Sophia laughs and says "In your next life!" Lara chases her out of the building on to some rooftops. Sophia cannot be killed by bullets, you must shoot at an electricity box to defeat her. Sophia attacks Lara by shooting green energy bolts at her. Even though her attacks are easy to miss, the energy attacks explode on contact and smaller sparks fly out and can hit Lara, draining life. If hit by a fully charged attack, Lara can lose up to three quaters of her health.

Sophia is in possession of the Eye of Isis, one of the four artefacts that come from the heart of an ancient meteorite.

Sophia returns in the Lost Artifact level Reunion were she has the Hand of Rathmore. In this game, she in not immune to bullets and can be defeated easier.

Trivia
* Sophia Leigh was created by using the same model as Lara.
* In the Official Tomb Raider Files book Sophia has middle-length brown hair and red lips. This could represent an earlier version of Sophia Leigh.
* Sophia is the last female character Lara will encounter until the Angel of Darkness.
}}
The Kraken is a special type of enemy appearing in Tomb Raider Underworld. Lara encounters it in the Mediterranean level Niflheim. In this level it serves as a blockaid, having its tentacles wrapping around the door blocking Lara's path towards the inner sanctum where she expects one of Thor's Gauntlets to be.

The creature is trapped in this underworld due to its large size and so is forced to remain here.

Appearance
The Kraken is a massive creature almost too large for its surroundings. It has its tentacles stretched out through the passages of the temple. Lara encounters its first tentacle shortly after passing the round portal into the inner caverns. Others are wrapped around the pillars of the central chamber, the main door and the cogwheel mechanisms. Lara assumes that the creature must be almost blind from the look of its eyes.

Strategy
The creature is invincible using conventional methods. To kill it Lara must activate the various cog mechanisms around the room to release the spiked chandelier-like structure she describes as sun shaped in the Field Assistance above the creature. It is revealed by Lara that the Kraken is blind and can only hurt her when she steps on certain spots around the chamber, in which case it attacks with its tentacles. Otherwise the Kraken is harmless and serves more of a puzzle than a boss in its self.

Mythology
Lara's journal has the following to say on this mythical creature:
* Kraken are monstrously large creatures in mythology. Thought to be based on sightings of giant quid, not to be confused with the sea serpents in Nordic tradition, though both were blamed for the disappearance of ships of all sizes. This beast clearly is a recent addition to this ruin and subsequently grew too large to leave again.
The Creature from the Past is a dragon-like creature that Lara meets in Cairo, in The Last Revelation. The creature guards the entrance to the Citadel in the level Citadel Gate. It can be considered a sub-boss, however as far as Lara is concerned it is immortal, in other words she cannot kill it.

According to the egyptian Soldier Asisah the creature appeared when the sky above Cairo darkened - when Seth started to bring chaos and destruction to the city.

The creature is accompanied by Swarms of Locusts.

By helping Asisah with the Motorbike to reach the Ammunition Truck Lara will be able to continue. Asisah will take the truck, on a suicidal mission, straight towards the monster and kill it.
Cleopatra's Guards are two demigods that Lara finds on the level Cleopatra's Palaces. When Lara sits on Cleopatra's throne, the two guardians emerge from both sides of the room. They guard the last pieces of the Armour of Horus and will attack Lara with their sceptres by throwing blue energy bolts or by rising their sceptres in a burst attack. Lara faces one guardian at the time.

The Guardians can be difficult to kill, but there is no need for killing them at all.
The best way to kill them is to crouch in front of them and shoot with the pistols, if you do it right, you shouldn't be hit by their bolts.

You can also completely avoid them if you are fast enough to get the two pieces of the armour and exit through the hole.

These are the first demigods you face in the game, and they bear resemblance to other demigods and also to Seth.
The Sphinx Bull are enemies from The Last Revelation.

These appears at the Guardian of Semerkhet, the Street Bazaar and Underneath the Sphinx. Their image is taken from the Ancient Egyptian god Apis. These bulls are invincible, and will charge at Lara at every opportunity. Lara manipulates the bulls into smashing through doors, smashing into stone door switches to open an escape door from the Guardian of Semerkhet, and to smash crates. Lara should stand in front of the object that needs to be smashed. As the bull charges, she should move out of the way using her acrobatic skills at the last minute.

We can assume from the name of the level, that the bull was the guardian of Semerkhet's tomb. The appearance in street bazaar could link it to Seth since many beasts were appearing around the City of the Dead in Cairo. However, because of it's protective role in the tomb of Semerkhet and also in the chambers under the Sphinx Complex, it might not be entirely evil, just irritable.
This opponent makes two appearances in the game.
The Fiamma Nera Boss is a sub boss encountered in the Opera House (Venice Section) and in Lara's Mansion in the level Home Sweet Home in Tomb Raider II. He carries two heavy guns which cause a lot of damage. The best weapon to use against him is the shotgun (you have no choice but to use it in Home Sweet Home as the Shotgun is the only weapon available). Using Uzis against him wastes too much ammo, but the Grenade Launcher can be helpful if you have it on you (if you collected all three secrets from The Great Wall level, then you have it). If Lara dies from the hand of the Fiamma Nera sub boss, he laughs in her defeat in the time between her death and the Game Over screen. From close range, it may take up to 7 or 8 shotgun bullets to kill him.

Weapons
The Fiamma Nera Boss carries two shotgun like guns. Upon his defeat in Opera House, it is discovered he possesses Grenades (and a Grenade Launcher if you don't have it already). In Home Sweet Home he is seen alive and carrying the same weaponry as last time.
James W. Rutland Jr. is a character from Tomb Raider Legend. Lara will meet him in Bolivia for the first time. They will meet again in Ghana. In the last level of the game he is killed by a blow from excalibur.

Description from the official site
James Rutland Jr. grew up in a bubble of enormous wealth and privilege. He went to West Point and managed to graduate on his own merits, barely. As hard as it was, he's glad for it, because it gave him a sense of self-discipline and strength that he finds useful now that he's free of the military. He's a charismatic man accustomed to getting whatever he wants; however, this time the object of his desire is also sought by Lara Croft.

His upper body is completely covered by a tattoo, as is the tradition among high-ranking Yakuza members.
The last time Lara met him, he was trying to pass off forged relics from the Asuka period, and only just survived Lara. Takamoto is similar in characterisation to Chen Lo from the Cradle of Life film.

from the official site
Shogo Takamoto is a Yakuza Kumicho (boss) who loves ancient weapons. In addition to being a powerful figure in the Japanese mob, he also became a fixture in the antiquities underground, frustrating collectors and adventurers alike by mixing forgeries with authentic items. Despite his untrustworthy reputation, he continues to be a player due to his ability to ferret out what people really want and dangle it before them, such that their desires overpower their better judgement. His most recent encounter with Lara left a very bad taste in his mouth, but he has been unwilling to risk seeking revenge, because the likely failure of the attempt would mean an enormous loss of face.
The Sea Serpent is one of the bosses in Tomb Raider Legend.

In the level England - King Arthur's Tomb? Lara finds a huge underground cave with a castle. Inside she finds the remains of the court of Camelot. Lara has to ring a bell, to free King Arthur from his shell, this also awakens the Sea Serpent.

It will attack Lara, as soon as she approaches the underground lake. It can bite her or spit at her.

To defeat it, Lara has to use the four cages in this cave. But first she has to distract the Sea Serpent. This is achieved by shooting at the bell-towers. The ringing will get the serpents attention and Lara has enough time to use the grapple to pull down the nearby cage. This has to be repeated at all four cages and the serpent will be unconscious for some time. Enough for Lara to escape into a tunnel.

There she will encounter the Sea Serpent again. She has to overcome the Interactive Cutscene to survive this encounter. At the end she will point her guns at the beast and it will understand that it has lost this battle.

Jacqueline Natla is a character from the original Tomb Raider (and its remake Tomb Raider Anniversary), making her return in Tomb Raider Underworld.<br><br>

Jacqueline Natla's background
Natla was one of the three legendary Rulers of Atlantis, along with Tihocan and Qualopec. Together they created the Scion, a device of immeasurable power. This device was split into three parts, one for each of the rulers, representing the ruling structure that Atlantis was governed by.

Natla abused this power, however, using the Scion to experiment in genetic engineering and create a new, improved race of Atlanteans. When they learned of this, Tihocan and Qualopec sentenced Natla to eternal imprisonment, freezing her and then burying her in present day New Mexico.

During World War II, the U.S. began testing nuclear weapons in Los Alamos, New Mexico. One of these tests happened to detonate very near to Natla's prison, freeing her from her eternal punishment.

Natla adopted the guise of Jacqueline Natla and founded Natla Technologies, a very successful company which gave her considerable financial backing. With the rest of her people long dead, there was no one to stand in the way of her experiments, and she began to research the whereabouts of the Scion.

Natla's powers, at least in Continuity 2 (Crystal Dynamics, TRA), seem to include superstrength, supernatural firepower, the ability to fly and the ability to teleport. She can also apparently shapeshift and is able to change from human to Atlantean form.

In the original game (TR1, Continuity 1) it is suggested that her wings are a mutant that she wears on her shoulders, and that her ability to shoot fireballs is due to a mutant attached or grafted to her forearm. There is no hint in TR1 that she has the ability to shapeshift or teleport, or that she has superstrength or is immortal. It is arguable that the conversion of Natla from human to superhuman in the style of a DC or Marvel Comics or Disney villianness, demonstrates the move from a British (Core Design) to an American (Crystal Dynamics) aesthetic.

Tomb Raider & Tomb Raider Anniversary
In the Tomb Raider / Anniversary storyline she hired Lara Croft to travel to Peru to uncover Qualopec's third of an artefact called the Scion, but underestimated both Lara's ability and her moral solidarity. When Larson, one of Natla's employees, revealed to Lara that there was more going on than she originally thought, Lara took up the trail of the Scion, unwilling to blindly hand over such a powerful artefact.

Lara travelled from Peru to Greece, and then to an ancient city in Egypt collecting the three pieces of the Scion before Natla could. However, Natla caught up with Lara on a cliff side in Egypt and stole the completed Scion from her. Natla travelled to the great pyramid, an ancient Atlantean construction, to finally complete her experimentation.

Lara infiltrates the great pyramid and finds the control room at the top of an enormous chasm. With Natla's experiments almost complete, Lara shoots the Scion to prevent the ability to create Natla's hideous monsters. Natla jumps on Lara, in an attempt to prevent her from shooting the Scion, but apparently falling to her death far below.

However, Natla is not defeated, she reappears in a final showdown with Lara, this time revealing her true Atlantean heritage. She sports red wings and blasts fire balls at Lara. When she is sufficiently injured she plays dead, lulling Lara into a false sense of security, but will then keep fighting until she is finally killed.

She is an unlockable character in Tomb Raider Anniversary.
Collect 41 artifacts in Anniversary and the following biography is unlocked:
* Jacqueline Natla is the owner and CEO of Natla Technologies, one of the world's largest electronics companies. She is the holder of several key computer hardware patents, and her research and development is one of the industry's most secretive and prolific innovators. Little is known about Miss Natla's private life other than she never gives interviews and rarely makes public appearances. Colleagues and business rivals alike say she is intimidatingly intelligent and a demanding perfectionist.
Tomb Raider Underworld
Jacqueline Natla returns in Tomb Raider Underworld, held prisoner in a glass tube on a freighter ship by Amanda Evert. Early in the game she tells Lara about Helheim and Avalon being one and the same and informs Lara that she needs Thor's relics to gain access. After visiting Jan Mayen Island to retrieve Thor's Hammer, Lara sets off to the Andaman Sea on the coast of Thailand to find Amanda's ship again. Lara confronts and threatens to kill Natla, but is stopped when Natla explains that a ritual is also needed to open the gates of Helheim; a ritual that only Natla knows. Realising she has no choice if she wants to enter Helheim and find her mother, Lara then smashes the capsule open, allowing Natla to escape. After arriving at Avalon, Natla reveals that she was manipulating Lara to reach an ancient device called the Midgard Serpent to bring about the Seventh Age. She also claims that she killed Lara's father in Thailand after he betrayed her. Lara manages to destroy the Midgard Serpent, and then knocks Natla into the Eitr surrounding the device by throwing Thor's Hammer at her.

Appearance
In Tomb Raider Underworld Jacqueline Natla is considerably taller and prettier than in Tomb Raider Anniversary, which was made by a different design team.

The following text can be found in Lara's journal:
* Natla was the Immortal Queen of Atlantis, and more recently CEO of Natla Technologies. Somehow she lost her connection with the powerful artifacts of her reign millenia ago, and recently began devoting her knowledge and intellect toward recovering it all from ancient sites around the world. Her aim is to initiate what she calls The Seventh Age, of which I know nothing other than that it would be a very bad turn for humanity. I buried her on a remote island, but apparently Amanda has dug her out and is keeping her prisoner as her own personal Encyclopaedia Atlantica. I hope Amanda understands that she's sitting on a time bomb, and that everything Natla tells her is filtered by her own agenda.

Beneath the Ashes & Lara's Shadow
Beneath the Ashes Story

Natla is not a character in Beneath the Ashes; however, it is suggested that she is still alive. In the final scene of Beneath the Ashes, Lara has learned to control both the Thralls and the Doppelgänger. After Lara establishes that the Doppelgänger has to obey her, the camera shifts and it is not possible to hear what mission or instructions Lara gives the Doppelgänger. However when the camera returns Lara is saying "Make sure Natla suffers". As the Doppelgänger leaves the room Zip says "You're letting her go? She killed Alister!", and Lara replies "And now, she is an instrument of his vengeance".

In the second cutscene of Lara's Shadow, the Doppelgänger comes across Natla in Helheim; Natla has suffered severe injuries, presumably from Thor's Hammer and from immersion in the Eitr. Using the words "Ohk Ehsivar" Natla orders the Doppelgänger to help her back to the pod device that the Doppelganger was created in. Natla then instructs her to reactivate the pod and waits slumped inside, presumably waiting for some regeneration process to begin. She gives the Doppelgänger some final orders, namely to kill Lara and then to commit suicide, the latter appearing to disconcert the Doppelgänger somewhat. Four days later beneath the Croft Manor (see Beneath the Ashes) Lara somehow frees the Doppelgänger from the control of the magic words Okh Eshivar and suggests that the newly independent Doppelgänger should "make Natla suffer". The Doppelgänger returns to Helheim and turns Natla's pod device off. Natla falls to the ground, gets crushed underneath some rocks and finally is left lying in a pool of Eitr. When the Doppelgänger approaches, Natla again orders her to help. However the Doppelgänger thinks back to what Lara has told her - "You are no longer a slave" (we see a flashback) - and does not obey. Natla realizes she is in trouble and calls for the Thralls to save her, but they don't show up. Natla screams and presumably dies. We see a close-up of the Doppelgänger's face: she smiles.
* Grey DeLisle (Tomb Raider Anniversary, Tomb Raider Underworld)
* Thought to be either Vicky Arnold or Susie Hamilton in Tomb Raider [reference to be added].

Miscellaneous facts
* A "scorched Natla" outfit is unlockable in Anniversary.
* Natla has featured in a number of Tomb Raider fan fiction stories, including "GM" and "The Dead" by Ostercy and "An Eye For An Eye" by Dr. Amazing, the latter being the winning entry in a Natla story writing competition, The Second Village of Tokakeriby TR Story Competition, 2002
* The Aramaic word "natla" (נטלא) means "the vessel used for washing hands". Another possible etymology of "natla" says it derives from "נטל " and should be viewed literally as "that which is lifted" or "that which is taken". (S. Fränkel, "Aramäische Fremdwörter im Arabischen," p. 65, and On Semitic Words in Greek and Latin W. Muss-Arnolt Transactions of the American Philological Association Vol. 23, (1892), pp. 35-156)
* There are some similarities between Natla and Ayesha, immortal anti-heroine of Rider Haggard's novel She . To quote Wikipedia; In the original novel, Ayesha is to a great extent selfish and amoral, caring very little for the feelings or even the lives of others so long as she gets what she wants. However, it is evident that, in the course of writing the novel, Haggard moved away from a purer conception of feminine evil. Indeed, one sees the process of transition fossilized in this sentence from the chapter entitled “Ayesha Unveils” - "I have heard of the beauty of celestial beings, now I saw it; only this beauty, with all its awful loveliness and purity, was evil — at least, at the time, it struck me as evil."
* Jacqueline Natla of Natla Technologies seems to be an early example of a character type popular in recent science fiction, a sinister female CEO of a sinister research multinational. Other examples include Catherine Weaver, the co-founder and current CEO of ZeiraCorp in Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles and Nina Sharp, the shady co-owner of Massive Dynamic, a science and technology research organisation, in Fringe .
* Even if not intended, there are similarities between the Anniversary version of Natla and the Egyptian god Seth from the game The Last Revelation. Both of them have wings (which both of them are able to hide, as shown when Natla is wearing a business suit and when Seth is imprisoned), are able to cast fireballs, are immortal and have power over the dead.

The Willard Mutant is born, when Dr. Willard threw himself into the Meteorite Crater.(some people call him The Willard Spider)

Willard assembles the artefacts at the cavern and raises the meteorite from its resting place. He evolves at a tremendous rate into a 4-legged beast with spikes for hands, and a twisted torso. He tries to prevent Lara from removing the artefacts but fails. The artefacts kept him invincible and their removal made him vulnerable to gunfire. He died at the feet of Lara.

Powers
Willard's twisted evolved form is the last boss of Tomb Raider III. When the meteorite artefacts are in their respective places within the meteorite cavern, he is invincible, although too much gunfire will make him unconscious for a short while. While conscious, he can manipulate the power of the meteorite and fire pulsating energy balls, from his spiked-hands which seem to be the antennas for concentrating the energy. He also is quite agile in the air, being able to perform a quick 180 degree jump on the spot.
You'll encounter the Puna Boss in the level Temple of Puna, in Tomb Raider III (South Pacific Islands). He has somehow gained Ora Dagger, and has become the ruler of the cannibalistic tribe that live on the remote island in the South Pacific. The tribe fear him since he is very powerful. He is eventually killed by Lara.

Strategy
The best way to defeat him is to side flip while shooting with the Desert Eagle or the Uzis. You can basically use all weapons, but those are the most effective. It can only be hurt while using its lightning attack or summoning a lizard, otherwise he is protected by a force field. If the lightning hits you it causes instant death. Every four shots he summons a lizard.

Powers
He can muster lightening using Ora Dagger. If struck by it, the recipient will suffer instant death. He may also summon lizard beasts to aid him. To defend himself, he can produce a energy barrier around his throne upon which he sits on. However the barrier will not hold when he musters lightening, making himself vulnerable to gunfire.
The Tyrannosaurus Rex (often abbreviated to T. Rex or T-Rex) is a classical baddy. You will meet him in the first three Tomb Raiders and he makes his return in Tomb Raider Anniversary.

The Tyrannosaurus Rex was first discovered in Wyoming by famed paleontologist Edward Drinker Cope in 1892. Since it's discovery, the T-Rex has been one of the identifying images of a dinosaur in popular culture. The largest specimen was 42 feet long and 13 feet tall. It's distinguishing features are it's two-fingered, tiny arms, long thick tail and legs, ridges above the eyes and a large mouth containing teeth that were 12 inches at their longest.

The T. Rex is an incredibly lethal adversary. One of the largest enemies in the original game, the T. Rex's long legs make for a large stride that can quickly gain on Lara and it's huge jaws can cause massive damage. The T. Rex also takes a lot of punishment, taking quite a pounding from her pistols. Explosive weapons can deal the most damage, though their usefulness may be offset by their rarity. Despite this, it is not as agile as smaller enemies in the game and it's large size makes it incapable of following Lara into smaller areas, such as holes in rock walls or doorways.

Lara encounters her first T-Rex in the original Tomb Raider in the Lost Valley.

In the level The Great Wall, in China, in Tomb Raider II she will encounter two T-Rex in a secret area.

In Tomb Raider III Lara will encounter an area with lots of different dinosaurs in the South Pacific level Crashsite, including a T-Rex.

Strategy
* Shoot at the centaurs until them become enraged.
* Avoid the Petrifying Beam that they will shoot at you the first round by loosening your focus on them.
* Again shoot at them till they are angry.
* Perform a head shot on the centaur attacking you.
* Use the Grapple to pull his shield from him. (Will only work after an effective head shot.)
* Shoot at them till they are angry.
* When the next petrifying beam comes, quickly pick up the shield and redirect it at the centaur to petrify it.
* Shoot at the petrified centaur.
* Again shoot at the centaurs to anger them. The other centaur will storm at you.
* Perform a head shot on him as well and grab his shield too.
* Shoot at the centaurs to get them enraged. Redirect the petrifying beams and shoot the centaurs till both have been destroyed.
Summary
A series of grisly murders brings Lara into conflict with a sinister Alchemist from the past, and a secret alliance of powerful individuals shrouded in mystery. At the center of these mysteries are the Obscura Paintings - five 14th century pieces of art that the Alchemist is desperate to repossess. Accused of the murder of her one time mentor, Werner Von Croy, Lara becomes a fugitive on the run. Pursued by the police, she follows the Alchemist into a dark world of blood, betrayal and vengeance where it is up to her to defeat this unholy alliance, and stop them from unleashing their incredible powers on the world.
Introduction
Central National Bureau. Paris

Commissioner Mirepoix, Special Crimes Investigation Force.

To the Préfecture de Police.

REPORT ON RECENT SERIAL ATROCITIES WITHIN THE CAPITAL.

As yet no significant arrests have been made for this latest spate of 'Monstrum' killings in
the capital. Seventeen have been reported so far. A woman was seen leaving the apartment of the
latest victim, Professor Werner Von Croy. Described as Caucasian, brunette, about 1.8m and of
slim build, she was wearing jeans, denim jacket and a pony tail. She is dangerous and probably armed.
Officers are being advised to use extreme caution when apprehending the suspect.

The press have sensationalised this latest outbreak of killings as "The Monstrum's Dark Renaissance",
referring to similar atrocities in the capital over the last decade, and possibly as far back as the 1950's. There are definite links to atrocities in other European cities going back at least fifty years.

Forensics have made no headway regarding the bizarre metallic eruptions found on the bodies of all
victims. At present nothing appears to link any of the individuals involved. There have been significant numbers of casualties within Parisian gangland factions.

It would all appear to be the work of a single, highly psychotic perpetrator. The bodies were
desecrated and all crime scenes daubed with unintelligible graffiti, indicating some ritualistic
fixation. There are no known survivors of these attacks so far.

The suspect's apprehension should be made top priority...
Paris

There are actually 34 levels in this game not 29. If you don't believe me, just count them!
Bugs (first level)
This level was clearly unfinished (as it was thought initially). Playing in debug mode, you can find objects, doors (one has even a lock which you can break using the crowbar), triggers (even for Lara to say something like "I can crawl through this hole in the fence"), and a policeman that will shout and try to arrest you. One amusing fact is the "I lost her" sentence said in french when you loose him.

This I relate to the hurry of releasing the game which itself is full of bugs (3D meshes, textures, objects reapearing, etc.) The most buggy TR ever, but otherwise a good game.

Trouble editing
I was unable to edit the article, and so here is the summary from Wikipedia that I wanted to add in.

Accused of the murder of her one-time mentor, Werner Von Croy, Lara becomes a fugitive. Following notes written in a journal by Von Croy, Lara races to recover five hidden paintings before a secret organization whose ultimate goal is world domination and immortality; they planned to achieve this by reviving an ancient biblical race known as the Nephilim.

Pieter Van Eckhardt is the main villain in Tomb Raider Angel of Darkness. He was a 15th century alchemist who created a powerful weapon called the Sanglyph. To keep the Sanglyph safe, Eckhardt split it into five pieces and hid each piece behind five paintings he created, depicting evil imagery.

As time went on, Eckhardt grew ever more evil and powerful, and eventually created an order known as The Cabal, a group of four individuals who all shared the same desire for immortality. To attain this immortality, the Cabal prepared to resurrect an extinct race known as the Nephilim (the product of relationships held between fallen angels and humans). Eckhardt believed that by using the Nephilim he would attain immortality and, in the end, dominate over all. However, an order called the Lux Veritatis (Latin for 'Light of Truth') were able to put a halt on Eckhardt's plans. The Lux Veritatis acquired three ancient weapons of light called the Periapt Shards and, led by Brother Obscura, used them to seal Eckhardt in a deep pit. The seal on Eckhardt would only last if the three Periapt shards were combined. Brother Obscura then confiscated the five paintings that contained the pieces of the Sanglyph, and painted over the previous images of evil with new religious images. These were hidden throughout Europe in locations known only to the Lux Veritatis, and were christened the Obscura Paintings. A copy was made of each, referred to as the Obscura Engravings, with each engraving containing an encoded map to the location of the original painting.

In 1945, something happened and one of the shards became separated from the other two. Eckhardt escaped the pit he vowed revenge against the Lux Veritatis and revived the Cabal basing it out of Prague. The new Cabal became devoted to hunting down any members of the Lux Veritatis. Eckhardt also managed to obtain the Periapt from the Lux Veritatis. He hid these shards in his old laboratory, deep underground beneath the Strahov, the headquarters of the Cabal. Eckhardt and the Cabal set out to reclaim the five Obscura paintings, in order to acquire the Sanglyph. By the time Lara became involved in the plot, the Cabal had already attained three of the five paintings. Eckhardt then hired Werner Von Croy to find the last two; Von Croy did learn of the location of the fourth painting beneath the Louvre from the Obscura engravings, but he never informed Eckhardt. Von Croy then asked for Lara Croft to assist in finding the paintings.

The Sanglyph whose five pieces are hidden behind the Obscura paintings and gives the bearer immense powersLara found the two remaining paintings in Paris and Prague, though Eckhardt reclaimed from her before retreating to his old laboratory, where he started reviving the Nephilim race. The Cabal had retrieved the last Nephilim specimen from Turkey: a Nephilim body which had been named "the Sleeper". During the final confrontation with Lara, Eckhardt starts the process of reviving the Sleeper. He battles Lara using the Sanglyph, but he is eventually killed by Karel, his right-hand man, who stabs Eckhardt with the third Periapt Shard. Karel revealed himself to be the last surviving/living Nephilim and that all the people who have helped Lara died at his hands to avoid the destruction of the Sleeper. He then offers Lara a chance to join him in his resurrection. Lara refuses, and decides to put an end to it by using the Sanglyph on the Sleeper--thus destroying it and Karel.
Fan speculation about AoD before release, from http://driber.net/trlefaq/cg/section1.htm
"A new character called Curtis Trent is also expected to be introduced opening enthusiastic possibilities of multiplayer and/or rotating between characters just like in Project Eden. It is said that he joins forces with Lara so that they both can retrieve the five paintings that Lara stole in the first place. This is where the game moves to its final location expected to be Prague, Eastern Europe, where Lara ends her adventure in the Strahov Complex for a final showdown with Eckhardt. However the characters exact role and what he will actually do is still shrouded in mystery and we believe he may just provide skills that Lara simply does not possess. Some are suggesting that Curtis is an AI character and that no multiplayer option will be available whilst others conflict with different stories. Also rumours have surfaced that a spin-off game featuring Curtis is also in the pipeline and it is this game that will eventually take over from Tomb Raider.

It turns out that Core Design would like to rid itself of the pressure of releasing a new game every year and plans to make updates for the game available over the Internet in downloadable components. The idea is that new characters, plots, etc., can be plugged into the game so players can play all new adventures and adding to the longevity of the game. But remember folks! Core also said it would release updates for the Tomb Raider: Level Editor via the web but we haven't had anything for almost twelve months now. While were on the subject of Level Editing the editing community may also get a much needed boast with some saying that the games new Level Editor being bundled with the PC version. Sounds plausible if they really want Curtis to take over from the series.

The game play is also being completely overhauled with elements from role-playing games being introduced. This will take the form of what is termed 'attribute development' which awards better players with more game content and improvements to Lara's skills. So for example if you like to sprint all of the time, Lara will become more able of sprinting and will be able to sprint faster and for longer. Or alternatively if you want Lara to become better at climbing she can with a little practice. This allows the games developers to add areas into the game that are only accessible to players if they have reached a certain proficiency level. Suggestions say that it's these areas that will replace the 'hunt high and low for secrets' strategy."
Before Boaz attacks Kurtis, Eckhardt sends her the gardener Dr. Grant Müller.

<h3>Fighting Boaz</h3>
Objective:<br>
You have to shoot the four flaps on the creature's back.

Warning:<br>
Don't get stuck in the green slime and don't let Boaz bite you. If you are out of Ammo, you can find some in a corner of the room.

<br clear="all">

That's how it's done:<br>
<ul><li>Hit Boaz' head with a bullet 4 times. She stops advancing and starts swaying from left to right, she starts spitting green goo.
<li>Now make 1 or 2 sidesaults and jump forward to get out of the target zone.
<li>At the back of the creature you can see 4 flaps (two on each side), the green goo comes out of there. You have to shoot these flaps. This will only work, when the flaps are opened, when Boaz is spitting goo. Each eliminated flap means less goo.
<li>Kurtis will shoot the front ones with no difficulties. To aim at the back ones, you have to change targets with the Roll Button. (PS2: Square, PC: End)</ul>

 <br clear="all">
After beating the first form of Boaz, a second, mosquito form will emerge from the carcass. You have to beat this creature was well. You have to hit her about 30 times. If you have enough ammo, just keep shooting, while retreating backwards and sideways.

The Unknown Entity is a monster first encountered in a ruin near Paraíso, Peru where it slaughtered most of Lara's colleagues. The creature's past and even name are unknown; it is contained in a stone called the Wraith Stone that is pried from a portal by Amanda Evert. The full extent of its powers include throwing fireballs, teleporting and merging with other being. One who obtains the stone can have complete control of the entity.

It is affectionately called 'Fluffy' by many fans thanks to the fact that it is Amanda's pet.

Tomb Raider Legend
The entity is first encountered in a Peru flashback, in Tomb Raider Legend and later in Kazakhstan, where it was brought by Amanda by using the Wraith Stone. In Bolivia - The Looking Glass Amanda will merge with the creature to form the Amanda Entity.

From the official site
An unexplained malevolent entity of unknown origin, Lara first encountered it in some ruins near Paraíso, Peru where it slaughtered most of Lara's colleagues.

In Underworld
After the events of Legend, Lara keeps the Wraith Stone in her vault in the Croft Manor, but it is stolen from her by her doppelgänger and given back to Amanda. Amanda later uses it to help Lara fight Thralls in the Arctic Circle level as Lara goes to find her mother.
