The Xbox App is a program pre-installed on Windows 10 that enables access to the Xbox Live network. It can normally be found on the start menu.

The Xbox App also includes the possibility to stream from a Xbox One or Xbox One X, enabling the user to play remotely. A Xbox controller is needed for this and the PC should be powerful enough to decompress and display the incoming video stream. To record the stream to hard disk an even more powerful GPU is needed, e.g. AMD 7x00 Series or newer.

Furthermore the Xbox app includes a Screenshot feature.

Beside that it enables access to the chat/messageing functions of the Live Network as well as managing friends and requests.

Similar Technology

The Remote Play functionality of the PlayStation 4 is basically the same. At first only available on the PlayStation Vita a programme for Windows 8.1/10 was released in 2016, enabling PCs to use Remote Play, too.
