Ten Thousand Immortals

Lara Croft and the Ten Thousand Immortals, the long awaited reboot of the Tomb Raider Novels, has finally hit the shelves. The novel picks up where the reboot game Tomb Raider (A Survivor is Born ended, with Lara returning from Yamatai.

Back home life proves difficult for our heroine. Traumatized by the events on the island Lara now suffers from panic attacks, and adding to her worries Lara receives a call from the hospital telling her that her friend Sam, who seems to be coping even worse, might have attempted suicide. Arriving at the hospital Lara learns that the sun goddess Himiko might still have a hold on Sam and that to help her, Lara must find a source of healing also rooted in the supernatural. Her research leads her to believe that the Golden Fleece might be the fitting artefact for her purpose.

The book promises light entertainment, while not being without flaws. Sometimes Lara's behaviour is out of character and the story takes an occasional short-cut and occurring events are occasional a little too convenient.
