Ten Thousand Immortals

Lara Croft and the Ten Thousand Immortals, the long awaited reboot of the Tomb Raider Novels, has finally hit the shelves. The novel picks up where the reboot game Tomb Raider (A Survivor is Born) ended, with Lara returning from Yamatai.

Back home life proves difficult for our heroine. Traumatized by the events on the island Lara now suffers from panic attacks, and adding to her worries Lara receives a call from the hospital telling her that her friend Sam, who seems to be coping even worse, might have attempted suicide. Arriving at the hospital Lara learns that the sun goddess Himiko might still have a hold on Sam and that to help her, Lara must find a source of healing also rooted in the supernatural. Her research leads her to believe that the Golden Fleece might be the fitting artefact for her purpose.

The book promises light entertainment, while not being without flaws. Sometimes Lara's behaviour is out of character and the story takes an occasional short-cut and occurring events are occasional a little too convenient.

In the wake of Yamatai's enduring evil, Lara is thrust into a dangerous web of mystery and intrigue.

Lara Groft wants only to put her horrifying ordeal on Yamatai island behind her. Her modest wish shatters as she's plunged into a frantic race to save Sam. Desperate for a remedy, Lara searches for anything that could help her. A wisp of hope arising from a myth gives Lara purpose: the story of an ancient and mysterious artifact that could heal her friend, and possibly help explain the supernatural events she witnessed on Yamatai.

However, Lara is not alone in her pursuit of the treasure. A nefarious magnate, a shadow society, and lethal henchmen will stop at nothing to exploit the powerful relic for their own ends. The hunt drives Lara across the globe, through a twisted web of conspiracy, suspicious contacts, and life-or-death intrigue, as she seeks salvation for her friend and the truth behind the legendary talisman.
