The Rifle Upgrades are an upgrade type in the Tomb Raider Reboot and Rise of the Tomb Raider.

Tomb Raider (2013)

There are five different rifle upgrades. Unlike Skills (Survivor Upgrades, Hunter Upgrades, and Brawler Upgrades), which are bought with Skill Points, these can be bought by spending Salvage.

List of Rifle Upgrades

Cost: found in game.
Makeshift grenade launcher removed from an enemy turret and attached to the rifle.
This upgrade is found in one of the later missions Into the Fire.
Cost: 500 Salvage
Grenades spray shrapnel upon detonation, incapacitating enemies in a wider blast radius.
Cost: 225 Salvage
Longer magazine holds 15 more round.
Cost: 350 Salvage
Barrel shroud improves gun handling for increased damage.
Cost: 400 Salvage
Custom barrel rifling invreases bullet speed for more damage.
Cost: 300 Salvage
Rifle butt and grip padding helps steady the weapon while firing.
Cost: 350 Salvage
Effectively dispels the gas from bullet firing to reduce recoil.
Cost: 300 Salvage
Two magazines taped together increases reload speed.
Cost: 250 Salvage
Polished ejector increases firing rate.
Cost: 250 Salvage
Increases zoom magnification for improved accuracy at long range. Press R3 to zoom.
Cost: 500 Salvage
Shots are quieted at the cost of slightly reduced damage. Press Right to cycle through shots.

Rise of the Tomb Raider

As with all weapons in Rise of the Tomb Raider, the Rifles can be upgraded at any of the Base Camps. A certain amount of Resources is needed. Most Upgrades apply to all Rifles, but some are specific to a certain type (e.g. SMG vs. Assault Rifle).

Tier I

Cost:
Precision milled barrle allows shots to fire with no disruption in trajectory for increased damage.
Applied to all rifles.
Cost:
Modified pin means smoother firing for increased rate of fire.
Applied to all rifles except bolt action.
Cost:
A more comfortable stock reduces kickback for increased recoil stability.
Applied to all rifles.
Cost:
Metal sheathing protects the user from a heated barrel, allowing for faster reloading.
Applied to all rifles except bolt action.
Cost:
A larger magazine allows more shots to be fired before the need to reload.
Applied to all rifles except bolt action.

Tier II

Cost:
Reload speed is increased due to smooth loading from a polished magazine.
Applied to all SMG rifles.
Cost:
A longer barrel allows for more precise shot, resulting in increased damage.
Applied to all rifles except SMG.
Cost:
A polished firing mechanism results in less jams for a faster rate of fire.
Applied to all assault and military rifles.
Cost:
Hide wrapping increases grip while changing mags for increased reload speed.
Applied to all assault rifles.
Cost:
A polished firing mechanism results in less jams for a faster reload speed.
Applied to all bolt action rifle.
Cost:
Magazine modified to reduce reload times.
Applied to all military rifles.
Cost:
Improved grip allows for a more comfortable hold and better recoil compensation.
Applied to all rifles.

Tier III

Cost:
A super smooth barrel means shots fire with no resistance for increased damage.
Applied to all rifles.
Cost:
High-sensitivity trigger modification increases rate of fire.
Applied to all SMG rifles.
Cost:
Two magazines are taped together for quick access to a second mag and increased reload speed.
Applied to all assault rifles.
Cost: 12 Salvage, 8 Technical Parts
Magazine with custom attachments for increased reload speed.
Applied to all military rifles.
Cost:
Redirect propellant gases to counter recoil and unwanted rising of the barrel during firing.
Applied to all rifles except bolt action.
Cost:
An extra magazne increases the number of shots that can be fired between reloads.
Applied to all assault rifles.
Cost:
Smoother bolt motion increases reload speed.
Applied to all bolt action rifles.
Cost: 15 Oil, 7 Salvage
A large capacity drum significantly increases sot capacity between reloads.
Applied to all military rifles.
Upgrade: Quick Release Magazine

Tier IV

Cost: 20 Salvage, 2 Technical Parts
Weight-adjusted driving spring increases rate of fire.
Applied to all SMG rifles.
Cost: 2 Oil, 20 Salvage, 4 Technical Parts
Standard folding stock balances out weight distribution which helps reduce recoil when fired.
Applied to all SMG rifles.
Cost: 18 Salvage, 4 Technical Parts
Redirects gas released when firing into the receiver to auto-cycle loading of the next round, improving firing rate.
Applied to all assault rifles.
Cost:
Bolt with refined grip contouring increases reload speed.
Applied to all bolt action rifles.
Cost: 5 Hardwood, 20 Hide, 1 Deer Antlers
A custom-fit stock allows for more natural hold and decreased recoil.
Applied to all bolt action rifles.
Cost: 19 Salvage, 3 Technical Parts
A custom trigger group within the receiver increases sensitivity for increased rate of fire.
Applied to all military rifles.
