The ninth title of the series, which is just called "Tomb Raider", came out on March 5th 2013. It deals with how a 21-year-old Lara Croft became an adventurer after surviving a shipwreck. The title marks a reboot of the whole series.
A reworked Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition is scheduled for release in January of 2014.
A Tomb Raider game usually consists of several levels of different length. In the Classic Tomb Raiders, as well as The Angel of Darkness a game section (taking place at the same location) consisted of several levels. Since Tomb Raider Legend and the usage of a streaming engine, a division of the sections is unnecessary. Only tradition brought back several levels in one location in Tomb Raider Anniversary and Tomb Raider Underworld.
Many characters played an important role throughout the Tomb Raider games.
